Barbara A. Puls
May 21, 1934 - May 3, 2024
MIDDLETON - Barbara (Holmes) Puls, age 89, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Two Rivers, Wis., on May 21, 1934, the daughter of Ruth and Herbert Holmes.
Barbara graduated from Middleton High School in 1952 and embarked on a journey of love and dedication when she married the love of her life, Otto Puls, on June 4, 1955.
Professionally, Barbara's career spanned diverse roles, each undertaken with diligence and commitment. From her tenure at USAFI to her work at Sears West Towne and Humana Health Insurance, she approached each responsibility with professionalism, leaving a lasting impression on those around her.
Barbara's greatest joys, however, were found with her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Otto, whose unwavering presence was a source of strength and joy throughout their 68-year journey together.
Barbara's legacy extends through her children: Julie (Ross) Cowing, Jeff Puls, and Joanne (David) Powers. Her grandchildren, Sarah (Sean) and Brian Cowing, Jordan (Kyle) DeRudder, Nicole (Mike) Powers, and Kaitlin Christensen; a great-grandson (with two more on the way); a niece and many nephews held a special place in her heart. Not to be overlooked, are her beloved granddogs, who brought her immense joy. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Brooks.
Barbara's zest for life was brimming with vitality and passion from beginning to end. She was an avid UW Basketball fan and delighted in attending countless Badger games. Her love for card clubs, daily walks, reading, gambling, movies, and sewing brought her immense pleasure. She enjoyed visiting grandchildren in other parts of the country; frequently commenting "that was the best ever" about their adventures, sporting and arts events. She found greatest joy in the company of her family and friends. Barbara had a remarkable ability to connect with others. Her energy was infectious, lighting up every room she entered.
Barbara's home was full of love and warmth, where special moments were crafted with care and holidays became lavish celebrations and snacks were always available. She was a mother who nurtured her family with boundless love and created joy amidst life's busyness.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Garding Against Cancer in Barbara's memory, a cause close to her heart.
Barbara's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and joy that will continue to inspire and uplift us all. Rest in peace, dear Barbara, knowing that your light will shine on forever in our hearts.
