Christine Merlin Manesis
March 18, 1949 - August 16, 2023
MADISON - Christine Merlin Manesis was born on March 18, 1949 in Madison, WI. She was a kind and quiet soul whose life was marked by her passion for literature, her deep spirituality, and her fierce love for family and friends. A proud alumna of Central High School and the University of Wisconsin Madison, Chris spent her happiest days with her beloved husband Pete, and their daughter Amanda. Chris found her joy peacefully in her vast library of historical tomes, and exuberantly with family and friends playing cut-throat card games. Her relationships, filled with love and mutual respect, were the cornerstone of her life. Chris was treasured for her depth of knowledge, warmth of companionship, and childlike wonder.
After a long battle with insidious illnesses, Chris passed away on August 16, 2023. Chris has gone beyond the veil to meet her husband, Peter, her sister, Kathryn, and her parents, Helene and Frederick. She is mourned by her daughter, Amanda, her son-in-law, Robert, her brother, Rick, and his children, Jessica, Jon, and Daniel. She is missed by more than she knew. In remembrance, donations can be made to your local library, or the Dane County Humane Society, honoring Chris's love of literature and cats.

Chris was my sister-in-law, and always kind, strong , and wise. She told me once that in this life we are really alone, and must fight for what we need. She was there to help me and my husband with our son when he was born.

Dear Chris,
I´m sure you can read this from heaven and that it is allowed. You were one of the fairest people I have ever known . Your insight and broad vision to see others point of view, ... a wisdom that many of us don´t possess. You told me that one has to always fight for what they need and I´ve never forgotten that. My prayers to you and to the angels who guide you. And my deepest condolences to Amanda, Rick, and his children.
With love ,
JoAnn

Dear Amanda, your mother and your father were among my favorite people. I spent many an evening in their apartment laughing and loving to be around them. Your mother was a bridesmaid in my wedding when you were a baby. I will miss Chris dearly as I continue to miss your dad. The world is a sadder place without them.
