Dale Muehlenkamp Obituary

Dale Douglas Muehlenkamp

November 7, 1939 - February 2, 2025

MADISON - Dale Douglas Muehlenkamp, 85, of Madison, Wis., passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2025, from natural causes.

Born on November 7, 1939, in Norwalk, Wis., Dale developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the outdoors early in life. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963 as a member of the 5010th Civil Engineering Group at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska, where he contributed to Cold War operations, including efforts during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Following his military service, Dale worked at Madison Kipp as an Operator, Supervisor, and Senior Process Engineer until his retirement in 2002.

Sports were a lifelong passion for Dale. He played baseball and softball competitively for many years and remained an enthusiastic supporter of the Cubs. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting with friends and family, often spending time at the family cabin with his wife, Lynn, and close friends. Dale also loved traveling with Lynn and took great pride in attending his grandchildren's events, especially their sporting activities. He was a proud participant in the Wisconsin Longitudinal Study, contributing to research in social and health sciences.

Dale is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Lynn (Newburg) Muehlenkamp; his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Lisa (John T.) Loftus, John M. Loftus, Jason T. Loftus, Brian (Peggy Metz) Muehlenkamp, Paige (Jackson) McHorse, Jacs McHorse, Ames McHorse, Erin (Quinn Threat) Muehlenkamp, Hannah (Matt) Mohr, and Beau Mohr. He is also survived by his sister, Mary (Harold) Bradley; sister-in-law, Ardella Muehlenkamp; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alphonse and Helen (Berendes) Muehlenkamp; along with his brothers, James, Donald, Kenneth, Wayne, and Jerome and their spouses.

Dale's memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
