Donna Muehlenkamp Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home - Tomah on Mar. 10, 2026.
Donna M. Muehlenkamp, 98, of Tomah, died on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Tomah Health.

On August 18, 1927, Donna was born to John "William" and Vera (Lamb) Worthington on the family farm in rural Ontario, Wisconsin. She was a member of Ontario High School's graduating class of 1945. On May 26, 1947, Donna married the love of her life, Clair George Muehlenkamp, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1962. Together the pair relocated to the Town of Wells where they farmed Lyon's Valley and raised their 2 children, Vicky and Jeffrey. Outside of maintaining the farm and her family, Donna worked at the Wisconsin Child Center in Sparta, Wisconsin, from 1960 until its closure in 1976. From there she began working for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, where she became the first female correctional officer and would continue to work there until her retirement on January 2, 1988. While known for being hard working, Donna also enjoyed being able to unwind through her various knitting projects, watching and rooting for the Chicago Cubs, and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, which she was able to proudly display on the annual Tomah Garden Walk. As someone who also loved to cook for her family and friends, some of her favorite memories were going on hunting trips out west where she was lovingly known as the "camp cook". Donna will be remembered for her loving and steadfast heart and will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.

Donna is survived by her children, Vicky (Robert) Baker of Tomah, and Jeffrey (Billie) Muehlenkamp of Wauneta, Nebraska; grandchildren, Jason Peck, Jayme (Brad Martin) Muehlenkamp, Jade (Lorna) Muehlenkamp, and Jared (Sadie) Muehlenkamp; step-grandchild, Wayne Baker; great-grandchildren, Remey Martin, Adler Muehlenkamp, and Fin Muehlenkamp; and step great-grandchild, Hope Baker; as well as many other family members and close friends.

Donna is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clair Muehlenkamp, and her parents, William and Vera Worthington.

Private services will be held. Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be offered by visiting www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com.
