SAUK CITY - Dean D. Pfaff, age 96, of Sauk City, passed away peacefully at the Pines in Prairie du Sac, on Thursday, December 7, 2023 surrounded by his family.

He was born October 4, 1927, in Hillpoint to the late Theodore and Esther (Langley) Pfaff. He worked alongside his father in his blacksmith and machine shop until 1950. Dean proudly served in the U.S. Army in a tank company during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1952, honorably discharged as Master Sergeant.

They moved to Sauk Prairie where they raised their family and Dean became Chief Engineer for Wisconsin Dairies; later Foremost Farms for 35 years. He saw the plant grow to 14 plants in several states.

In retirement, Dean started Badger Fabrication, a stainless-steel fabrication business with his son John and Bob who later joined the business.

Dean was a faithful and active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council. He was a member of the American Legion, the Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694 and American Welding Society. Dean loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, golfing and time with his family.

Dean is survived by his daughters: Deanna (Tom) Fischer, Rita (Kris) Sperstad; sons: Robert (Deb) Pfaff and John (Sharol) Pfaff; nine grandchildren: Claire Fischer, Doug (Chrissy) Fischer, and David (Kyra Silbernagel) Fischer, Andy Pfaff and Daniel (Amber Gray) Pfaff, Dean (Jess) Sperstad and Julie (Aaron) Bergen, T.J. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Bob, Jerry, Orlow; and sister, Eileen Hasse.

A Funeral Service for Dean will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 100 Oak St., Prairie du Sac. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening December 18, 2023, at the church, and also the morning of the service, one hour prior to the service at the church. As one of those in the "Uncle Dean" category, Dean was and continues to be an inspiration to me as a metal worker, an engineer, and a business man. My condolences, he will be missed.

Uncle Dean will be missed. He always greeted us with a smile and sense of humor. He and Aunt Violet were gracious hosts to us in the home that they built. He and Violet leave wonderful children and grandchildren.
