Earl Mylrea

Earl William Mylrea, son of Chauncey and Louise (Friede) Mylrea, Reedsburg, age 96 passed on to Heaven on January 2nd. He was born on March 21, 1928 in Rock Springs, Wisconsin. Although diagnosed with polio in 1946, it never stopped him. Earl graduated from Dunwoody Institute of Technology and married his high school sweetheart in 1949. He was president and founder of Academy Electric, Inc., an electrical contracting company, in 1962 in Madison, working alongside his wife, Marian, and retired in 1988.

Earl was a member of the National Electrical Contractors Association, Madison Builders Association (awarded associate of the year), Wisconsin Builders Association, Kilowatt Club, Illumination Engineering Society, Licensed Design Professional of Electrical Systems, State of Wisconsin Electrical Code Board, Monona Grove Businessmen, East Side Businessmen, Boy Scouts, 4 Lakes Yacht Club, Lake Wisconsin Country Club, and Lake Worth, Florida Country Club, and the Manx Society of Wisconsin. He served on committees and the board of Lake Edge Lutheran Church, Madison, and the building committee of Ascension Lutheran Church, Boyton Beach, FL, where they wintered.

Earl enjoyed many years of traveling, hunting and fishing throughout the nation and world with family, friends, the Friendship Force and Elder Hostel. Golf, cards, snowmobiling, Packer and Badger football and hockey games and helping others with repairs were favorite pastimes. Earl and Marian attended the first and second Superbowl and Ice Bowl. In his later years, he loved deep sea fishing in Florida. The highlight of Earl's life has been his 72-year marriage with Marian, his family, friends, and the parties they had together.

Earl is survived by his sons, Steve (Lesley) and David (Trudy); daughters, Sharon (Therese) Mylrea and MariLyn (David) LeFeber; grandchildren, Darren (Heather) Mylrea, Gavin (Viktoryia) Mylrea, Amanda (Pete) Jacobson, Michael (Denise) Mylrea, Samuel (Adrianne) Mylrea, Melinda (Matt) Freeland, Elizabeth (Ryan) Bowser, Jonathan (Serena) LeFeber; great-grandchildren Jack, Alex and Henry Jacobson, Shoshanna, Levi and Ariela Mylrea, Julius, Theo and Mayer Mylrea, August and Adeline Freeland and Remington and Sloane LeFeber; brother Wayne (Sharon) Mylrea, sister-in-law Joyce Mylrea, stepsister-in-law Marlene (Rev. Carl) Peters, stepbrother-in-law Vern Aaroen and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Many years of working in the electrical trades, I would say Earl was the best man that I ever worked for he was caring and understanding and very knowledgeable of the industry, he was very patient with some of my shenanigans! I was very thankful to have worked for and learned from Earl , the world has lost a great one, my deepest and sincere sympathies to the family
