Huske, Eugene (Gene)
MADISON - Eugene (Gene) Huske, aged 87, of Madison, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022 following a long illness. Gene was born on June 6, 1934 in Milwaukee, Wis. to Estelle (Kostrzewa) and Raymond Huske and had a sister, Patricia. He was a graduate of Bay View High School, Milwaukee, Wis. 1952. He then attended University of Wisconsin, Madison where he was a coxswain on the crew team that went to England to compete under coach Norman Sonju. He was a loyal supporter of the University and its sports teams, attending games for almost 50 years. He was a member of the W Club and a past member of the Optimists. He served in Germany with the Army from 1957-1959 and was honorably discharged from active service with the rank of Sergeant. While stationed in Germany, he enjoyed traveling in Europe and loved to share stories of his travels to France, Italy, and Switzerland. Following his active duty, he served in the Army Reserves. He worked as an Account Executive for Moore Business Forms for almost 30 years where he won multiple awards for his performance. He was known for his loyalty to his many friends, his work ethic, and love of his family. He was married and divorced from Meris Chang. He is survived by his loving daughter, Darian Drescher (Tommy Gordon), Bethesda, Maryland; granddaughters, Alexa and Ava Drescher; niece and god-daughter, Pamela Franke (Peter Regenfelder) Milwaukee, Wis.; nephews, Todd Franke (Megan) Santa Monica, Calif., Matthew Franke (Heidi) Stillwater, Minn. and Tim Franke, San Antonia, Fla. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022 from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, WI 53705. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Men's Rowing Fund at The University of Wisconsin Foundation in honor of Gene Huske.
