PORTLAND, OR - Harold Wesley Watts of Portland OR, died June 7, 2022, he was 89. Harold was the son of Elton and Claire Watts, of Silverton OR. He was married to Doris Arlene Roth from 1951 - 1973.

He is survived by one son, Michael Watts; and three daughters: Suzanne Franklin (Jim), Jane Lipke (Forrest), and Kristin Peri (Mario). He is also survived by four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In 1954, Harold received a BA from the University of Oregon, Eugene, OR. He received a Master's Degree in 1956, and a PHD in 1957, from Yale University, New Haven, CT. As a Professor of Economics, he held positions at Yale University, the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and Columbia University, NYC. Harold served as Director of The Institute for Research on Poverty at the University of Wisconsin from 1966 - 1971. He was a Senior Fellow for Mathematica Policy Research in Princeton, NJ from 1979 - 1992.

Upon retiring from Columbia University in 1998, Harold moved to Greenport, NY and became a winemaker. His label was Ternhaven Cellars, which he owned for 16 years. He spend the last several years of his life in his native state of Oregon.
