Frey, Howard Joseph
SAUK CITY - Howard Joseph Frey, age 91, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, surrounded by his family following a brief illness. He was born in Roxbury on Sept. 4, 1930, the son of the late George and Anna (Lochner) Frey. He was united in marriage to Irene Ganser on July 9, 1955, at St. Aloysius Church in Sauk City.
After his service in the US Army, he spent the majority of his working years as an electrician working for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed retirement playing an important role in the upbringing of all of his grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
Survivors include his wife, Irene; children, Randal (Joyce), Glenn (Lori), Laura (Terry) Breunig, Mark (Tara) and Susan (Todd) Statz; grandchildren, Ryan (Nicky) Frey, Mike Lund-Knill, Courtney Olson (Colton Johnson), Dallas and Elise Breunig (Murray Dunsirn), Allana and Ayden Frey, and Leah (Alex Secord) and Erin Statz; and great grandchildren Odin and Quill Frey. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings, Bernard, Phillip (Rita), James (Sybilla) and David (Judy) and sister-in-law, Carol.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold (Phyllis), Roman, Ralph, George, Jr. (Barbara); and his sister, Mathilda (Charlie) Schepp.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, at 11 a.m. at ST. ALOYSIUS CHURCH in Sauk City, Wis.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the mass at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City.
