James Norman Borth, age 82 of Oregon, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, July 16th, 2025 at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. He was born on May 31, 1943 in Wausau, Wisconsin, the son of the late Norman and Helen (VanderWaal) Borth. He had many business opportunities during his life, as a real estate broker and plumbing inspector. In 1990, he started the dealership, Preferred Cars, in Oregon, WI, where he enjoyed many years in business and long-lasting customer relationships.

Jim had a love for horses and participated in many rodeos with his "Apache" horse. He enjoyed working at horseback riding ranches in Mosinee and Minocqua in the summer during his high school years. Having graduated from Mosinee High School in 1961, Jim attended the University of Wisconsin on a NROTC Scholarship in accordance with the US Navy. His love for rugby began at the UW Madison in 1963, its inaugural year, and it continued throughout his life. He was an active member of the Wisconsin Rugby Club. He also had a love for adventure, hitchhiking from Wisconsin to the Rose Bowl in 1963!

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Dwight. He is survived by his sisters, Joann (Stan) Bickley, Oceanside, CA and Debra (William) Pecha, Gillett, WI and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank his special friends, Stacy and Donald, his friends at the Rugby Club and the physicians and staff at the VA Medical Center for their Compassionate Care for Jim.

Although there will be no formal services, Jim will be laid to rest beside his parents and brother in the Mosinee Cemetery, Mosinee, Wisconsin.

Memorials may be made to either a Veteran's organization or charity of your choice in Jim's name.

I met Jim in 1969 when I began my rugby career. While in college, I worked in a business that Jim managed. He was a fair, compassionate, caring and giving man, and I was lucky to be in his company as I've gone through life. I will miss him.
