James Lockwood Obituary

James F. Lockwood

October 29, 1940 - February 25, 2025

SUN PRAIRIE - James F. Lockwood, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born on October 29, 1940 in Madison and was the son of Francis and Bernadette (Meyer) Lockwood. He married Judith Ann Rickey on April 23, 1960. Jim and Judy have lived in Sun Prairie for 60 years. He started his career at 17 in Sun Prairie at Phil Clifford Ford and retired after 57 years at Capital Ford in Madison. "Jim was the best Ford parts man in the industry". He loved fishing, hunting squirrels, horseshoes, classic cars and car shows. His favorite place to relax was weekends in Oxford with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Judy; four children, Kimberly (Tom) Lockwood, Kevin (Joelle) Lockwood, Kristi (Augie) List, Kari (Paul) Prohaska; 10 grandchildren, Beth (Steve), Amy, Kelsey (Matt) Austin, Drew, Dalton, Blaise, Remington, Challis and Chase; five great-grandchildren, Kohen, Oliver, Natti, Kennedy and Layla; brothers-in-law Richard Rickey, Frank Rickey Jr.; sisters-in-law, Marlene (Dutch) Van Dyke, Susie (Wayne) Niebuhr.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John (Barb) Lockwood; sister, Kathy (Ron) Harris; Jamie Ives and Nicky Ives; a niece, Jackie Kovalaske; and a brother-in-law, Robert Rickey.

A visitation will be held Sunday, March 2, 2025 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Tuschen Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St., Sun Prairie. We would like to thank the incredible medical and care team at St. Mary's in addition to Polly in Palliative Care. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the UW Carbone Cancer Center or the American Heart Association. We will miss you and carry you in our hearts forever!

God saw he was getting tired

And a cure was not to be,

So he put His arms around him

And whispered, "Come with Me."

With tearful eyes we watched him

And saw him fade away,

Although we loved him dearly

We could not make him stay.

A golden heart stopped beating

Hard working hands to rest,

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best.

Best Parts guy I have ever worked with, and am grateful I had the opportunity.
There are many people in this world, and then there are "good people". Jimmy was tops. My condolences to his family.

I had the pleasure of knowing Jim in two different ways , first through his being an exceptional parts man , he was the best , and secondly his approval of letting our son marry one of his beautiful daughters . It was always fun socializing with Jimmy at family gatherings, I´m sure he will be greatly missed.
