John E. Callies
February 23, 1943 - May 7, 2022
SUN PRAIRIE - John E. Callies, age 79, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at U.W. Hospital in Madison.
He was born on February 23, 1943, in Madison and was the son of Edward and Dorothy (Schuster) Callies. He married Wanda Raley on July 19, 1975, at St. Jeromes Catholic Church in Columbus. John served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1970. He was a U.S. Postal worker in Sun Prairie for 45-years. John was a avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed CB radio.
He is survived by his wife Wanda; three children: Kenneth Callies of Fond du lac, Mathew Callies of Sun Prairie, Jennifer (Patrick) Weber of Wauwatosa; two grandchildren: Holly and Rachel; three great-grandchildren: Ashton, Brently and Maya; three brothers: Mike (Kathy) Paul, Dan (Sue).
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2022, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 229 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie with Father Thomas Kelley presiding. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sun Prairie. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Monday.
