July 17, 1923 - March 17, 2025
LODI – Joyce I. Herwig Hillestad, age 101, died on Monday, March 17, 2025.
Survivors include her daughters, Jill (Nick) Bjornstad, Patricia Treinen (Jan Marlett) and Sarah (Peter Anderson) Herwig; sons, Dr. Steven (Karen), Brian (Karen) and Randy (Carol Thompson); 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and family friend, Carole Magilton.
A visitation will be held at Lodi United Methodist Church, 130 Locust St., Lodi, from 5 to 7 p.m., on Friday, March 21, 2025, with an Order of Eastern Star service at 6:45 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the church at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 22, 2025, with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will take place at Garden Bluff Cemetery.

Joyce was one of the most dependable and dynamic volunteers among many I was privileged to work with during the years I was with the Good Samaritan community. She always arrived full of energy and cheer and knew the resident community well. Later, she was a resident in the rehab center and still a positive person. The only thing I remember she would complain about was that the servings of the meals were too big. She loved the food, but felt they should not serve so much as she did not want to waste the food. Blessings to all of her amazing family as they honor her life.
