Judith Ann (nee Merrill) Shelp
February 15, 1938 - July 13, 2024
HARTLAND - Judith Ann Shelp (nee Merrill), passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2024, at age 86.
She was born in Black River Falls, WI, and grew up on a farm outside of Hixton, WI. She went to Madison to attend nursing school at the UW,and stayed in the Madison area for much of her life, having spent the last three years in the town of Merton under the loving care of her son, Steven and her daughter-in-law Linda.
Judie is also survived by her daughter, Julie (Bob Snow) Fowler; son, Randall; and six grandchildren, as well as numerous four-legged family members. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and a friend to many.
Judie was known for her love of travel, gardening, books, crafts, and brought joy to many with her beautiful soprano voice. She volunteered for many years, becoming a volunteer director and an activity director for an adult day care center, as she was drawn to working with the elderly.
Judie requested no formal ceremony as she wished to have an intimate gathering of those she cherished to share a last goodbye at her childhood home.
She will be greatly missed but we are thankful for all the years we had with her. "You'll Never Walk Alone" will always be with us, Mom - we know that at the end of a storm is a golden sky, and your voice will now join the sweet silver song of that lark.
