Kenneth Casey Obituary

Kenneth Paul Casey

July 2, 1937 - May 12, 2025

Madison - Kenneth Casey, age 87, passed away on May 12th, peacefully at home, alongside his wife, Suzanne Beaudoin, his loving sister-in-law, Michelle Roesken and their loyal dog, Bleu.

Ken was born in Queen's New York and resided on the same street as his maternal grandparents who were first generation Irish immigrants.

Ken is survived by his brothers, Joseph (Susan) and Kevin (Anna). His sons, Brian (Shelly), Evan and Liam. His grandchildren, Quinn (Kai), Shea, Cade, Claire and Ethan. His sons and grandchildren enriched his life and brought great joy, laughter and love. Suzanne's brothers, James (Laura), and Michael (Mary) and Tim (Denise) adored Ken. Ken is preceded in death by his father, Joseph; and mother, Margaret Kearns; and his sister, Marguerite.

On the cusp of completing his PhD in mathematics at the University of Oregon, he changed his focus to law. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin law school, he devoted his life to legal representation of the poor and powerless. At work he was so knowledgeable about the law he was a resource for his colleagues when they wrestled with difficult issues. He was a managing attorney at Legal Action of Wisconsin, employed as a Public Defender and worked as a clinical instructor at the U.W. Law School.

Ken had a brilliant mind, curious about everything and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a voracious reader and as his son Brian would often say, "my dad's hobby is hobbies."

The family was comforted by Ken's dear friends Bob Anderson, Eileen Hirsh, Margaret Maloney, and Catherine Dorl.

Special thanks to the angels from Agrace Hospice, providing 24/7 care to a loved one who is dying is very hard work but as Kahil Gibran said, "Work is a way of making love visible."

A celebration of Ken's life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m., on September 20, 2025, at Quivey's Grove, 6261 Nesbitt Road, Fitchburg, Wis.
