Kenneth W. "Kenny" Otteson
July 22, 1945 - July 27, 2023
MCFARLAND - Kenneth W. "Kenny" Otteson, age 78, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg surrounded by his loving family.
Ken was born July 22, 1945, in Stoughton to the late Arnold and Virginia (Peckham) Otteson. Ken served his Country in the United States Army from 1963 until 1969. He married Gerda Klein in 1966 in Germany, while stationed there. He was a Union Carpenter by trade. Ken raised his family on Lake Waubesa and later in life enjoyed spending his winters in Florida. His pride and joy were his grandkids. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, watching the Packers and the Badgers, and loved to be surrounded by family and friends.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Gerda; son, Jeffrey Otteson; daughter, Harriet (Karl) Steinbach; four grandchildren: Kaden, Ava, Corey and John; sister, Judy Williams; very good friend and neighbor, Stan Reif; and lifelong friend Gene (Sue) Simpson; and he is further survived by many relatives and other friends.
He is proceeded in death by his parents; brother Arthur Otteson; and numerous other family members.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday August 11, 2023, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 5801 Hwy 51, McFarland with Military Honors. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home on Friday. A luncheon will follow the service at the McFarland American Legion.

Ken was a simple man, and lived his life for his family.

My name is Karen Carley. The "Carley" kids grew up by the Otteson Family on Morris Park Road in the early '50s. We played on dirt roads & grew up with Artie, Kenny, Judy, Wayne Simpson& Dave Suetmier. You cannot replace those memories of friends. RIP Kenny.
