Kent Taylor Obituary

Kent S. Taylor

August 20, 1945 - September 25, 2025

MOUNT HOREB- Kent S. Taylor, age 80, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at BeeHive Homes, surrounded by his loving family. Kent was born on August 20, 1945, to Sam and Renee (Gilman) in Waupaca, Wis.

Kent was the eldest of three sons. He graduated from Waupaca High School in 1963 where he lettered in multiple sports including cross country, track and curling. Kent served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kearsarge during the Vietnam War as Yeoman for the Chief Engineering Officer. During his deployment, he toured the Pacific, traveling to Hawaii, the Philippines, Japan and Hong Kong. He continued his service working at the Pentagon as a Documents Control Clerk for the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Kent met a wonderful woman, Mary Ellen Eiholzer, who was a secretary for the Joint Chiefs of Staff. They married in Upstate New York on June 20, 1970, and eventually relocated to Wisconsin to continue his education. Kent graduated from UW-Whitewater with an MBA in Finance in May of 1975. They went on to have two daughters, first Angela Marie then Kathleen Ann who he referred to as his angels.

Kent worked for CUNA Mutual for nearly 20 years. He found great friendships there and was the manager and pitcher for the company softball team for many years. Kent continued curling, going on many bonspiels with his father, brothers and friends.

Sadly, his wife passed away from cancer in 2001. His heart was never quite the same, yet he continued to stay busy in his retirement working at Ancora Coffee. Kent's spark for life was reignited with the birth of his first grandchild, Donovan, in 2011. Donovan was an important part of Kent's life, and he loved his babysitting duties. He knew how to play, be goofy, sing and bring such joy to his grandson. Kent enjoyed watching Donovan play soccer and hockey. He was Donovan's biggest fan. Memories together that will live on. The birth of his second grandson, Chase, added to his joy.

Kent is survived by his daughters, Angela (Timothy) Foster and Kathleen Taylor (Asgar Rahman); grandchildren, Donovan and Chase Rahman; and brothers, Craig (Mary) and Kelly (Carrie) Taylor. He is also survived by many loving relatives and friends. Kent was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen; and his parents, Sam and Renee Taylor.

The family would like to thank the staff at BeeHive Homes of Mount Horeb for their endless love for Kent, and Agrace Hospice for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, take someone you love for ice cream which was Kent's favorite dessert and have an extra scoop for Kent.

Quote from Kent's senior picture: "Kent's the fellow they call when looking for one friendly and cheerful to all."

A private family burial will take place at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
