Lawrence "Larry" Thomas

August 21, 1939 - September 3, 2025

Lawrence "Larry" Thomas, age 86, passed away on September 3, 2025, in Madison, WI. He was born on August 21, 1939 in Madison, Wisc., to parents, Michael and Iona (Lewis) Thomas.

Larry was a 1957 graduate of Madison East High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps and served five years. He was a US Embassy Guard under President Eisenhower. He met his wife of 64 years while on duty. Larry worked for 44 years for J.H. Findorff & Sons, retiring in 2007. During his career as a Senior Project Manager, Larry took pride in his work on the Monona Terrace, Overture Center, and MATC Truax. He enjoyed spending time camping and fishing.

Larry is survived by his wife, Maria; son, David; brothers, Richard and Michael; sister, Nancy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A remembrance service is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army of Dane County.
