Sullivan, Dr. Linda Jo (LJ)
MADISON - It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Linda Sullivan, 67, of Madison following a 10-year battle with ovarian cancer. Born in Neenah, Wisconsin, Linda was a brilliant scholar and teacher, she dedicated her life's work to do what she loved…develop minds of young men and women in the animal health care field.
She earned three degrees during her collegiate years; a BS in Medical Technology from UW-Eau Claire in 1976. A Master's in Business/Health Administration from UW-Madison in 1980. And was a member of the Charter class of the school of Veterinary Medicine from UW-Madison where she earned her Doctorate in in 1987.
Awarded Emeritus Faculty status from the University of Wisconsin, Linda worked as a Clinical Professor in the School of Veterinary Medicine from 1990-2019. Her impact at UWwas enormous as she touched so many lives and was well-loved by her students and colleagues alike.
A tireless volunteer, LJ served on the Board of Directors for the Dane Co. Humane Society from 1992-2002. She sat on many committees in the School of Veterinary Medicine and was an advisor for the Companion Animal Club. Other notable efforts included the founding of Pet Pals Pet Therapy Program, PuppyUp Madison and Czars Promise.
An avid sports fan, she loved her Badgers (a season-ticket holder for football and basketball), Packers, Brewers and Bucks. LJ enjoyed many memorable trips to Rose Bowls and Big 10 Championship games with her mother, sister and brother to cheer on her beloved Badgers. She spent time relaxing fireside creating many intricate Zentangle designs with her beloved schnauzer on her lap.
She is survived by adored canine: Niles Newton, sister: Suzy Piorier (James Dawson), Brother: John Luedke (Patti Shine). She had a very special, unconditional love for her Nieces Caley Piorier, Taylor Piorier, Blair Luedke, and Nephews; Kyle Luedke and Sean Luedke. The adoring respect they had for her is immeasurable. Linda is preceded in death by parents: Russell and Jo Ann Luedke. Canines; Bismarck, Ilsa and Otto.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UW Foundation-Niles Newton Sullivan Fund for American Family Children's Hospital Dog Care Program, and/or Czar's Promise.

My mother Nan was great friends with Jo Ann in Neenah, and I met Linda when I started vet school in 1999. She was a student favorite (as was Otto, who frequently visited) and an excellent instructor. She was a calming presence and always had kind words of wisdom for stressed-out students. We stayed in touch after I graduated and I was honored to count her as a friend. I am so sorry that she is gone, and gone far too soon.

We enjoyed knowing Linda from living on the 6th floor of Weston Place...on Saturdays at Weston, she was one of the "regulars" at the weekly soirée-she will be missed by all.
