Ballweg, Margaret G. (Coghlan)
MIDDLETON - Margaret G. (Coghlan) Ballweg, age 90, of Middleton, died at home on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2021. She loved pie, her family, cobalt blue depression glass, and her lovely house, where she lived since 1967.
Margaret was born in Rochester, Minn., on March 10, 1931, to William and Ada (Hunter) Coghlan. Before kindergarten, the family moved to Madison so that her dad could find work. She graduated from Central High School in 1950 and worked at Woolworth's and Western Union. Margaret met George Ballweg at a dance at the VFW. They married in October 1950 at St. Patrick's Church and raised three daughters.
When West Towne Mall opened, she took a job at Sears where she ended up managing various departments over the years and regularly won awards for selling the most Maintenance Agreements. It is not without irony, then, that the one consistent piece of advice she gave to her family was to never, ever buy a Maintenance Agreement.
She was a funny, compassionate, generous woman who was also gracious and grateful. Her last words were "I love you," and 'Thank you."
Margaret is survived by two daughters, Kathleen and Georgette; and her grandson, Martin (Carys).
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her daughter, Linda; and all her brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Middleton. Burial was at St. Martin's Cemetery in Martinsville where she is at rest with George and Linda.
Her family would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare for their loving care of Margaret, as well as Brady at Gunderson Funeral Home for his understanding and attention to our unique requests, all of which were based on her wishes. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
