Mary Lueck Obituary

Mary Lueck, née Born, age 78, of Madison, Wis., passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, surrounded by friends, family, and her royal highness, Miss Kitty.

Mary, the only child of LeRoy and Blanche Born, was born in Beaver Dam, Wis. She grew up in Markesan, graduating from Markesan High School in 1965. For the past twenty years, she made her home in Madison, a city she grew to love.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Gruber in 2019. She is survived by her twin sons, Ryan (Erin) Lueck and Bryan (Jessa Farquhar) Lueck. She is also survived by her cousin and lifelong friend, Susan Klawitter.

Over the years, Mary worked in a variety of jobs, but she was especially proud of her volunteer work at Agrace thrift stores in Madison. She found joy in tending to her flowers, collecting antiques, decorating her dollhouses, and caring for her beloved cat, Miss Kitty. She did not always find joy in Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers football games, but she watched them religiously nonetheless. She will be remembered for her kindness, her intelligence, and her wonderful sense of humor.

Private services will be held.
