Philip Mathison

February 16, 1938 - August 1, 2025

Sun Prairie – Philip Francis Mathison, age 87, passed away on August 1, 2025 at Agrace Hospice. He was born on February 16, 1938 in Madison, the son of the late Paul and Esther (Bohn) Mathison. He married Anita Ellen Morris on September 29, 1984 in Sun Prairie.

Philip graduated from East High School in 1956. He worked as a Dental Technician and Treck Bicycle Company for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going camping. He was a Badger and Packer fan and went to many games. He played in the Madison Pool League and Senior Games and won many metals. He was proud of his Norwegian and English Heritage. His grandmother was a Whitling and the Whitlings go back to the May Flower. He was in the Air National Guard and a member of the American Legion Post 33.

He is survived by his wife, Anita Mathison; and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Jr.; sisters, Marcella Mathison and Lavonne (Mathison) Leitzke, Armilla (Mathison) Patrick and Burdell (Mathison) Percy.

A private service will be held at a later date. Philip will be laid to rest at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens.
