Freye, Richard J. "Dick"
MADISON - Richard J. "Dick" Freye, age 84, passed away on March 31, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born on April 5, 1936, to parents Carson and Agnes (Frisch) Freye in Madison, Wis.
Dick graduated from East High School in 1955. He married Janice Sletten on July 27, 1968, at Bashford United Methodist Church in Madison, which they were members of for over 50 years. 1968 was a big year for Dick and Jan, as he started his own business, Professional Pest Control, and Jan's Cafe closed in August. Before starting his own pest control business, he worked for WIL-KIL pest control for 10 years. Dick was a member of the Tip Club, Madison South Rotary Club, and Madison Moose Club. He was a five-time president of the Wisconsin Pest Control Association and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award. Dick finally retired in 2007 after selling to his son. After retirement, his health began to decline, and he was unable to spend retirement as he and Jan planned.
Dick is survived by his wife, Janice "Jan"; son, Richard K "Rick" (Nancy); daughter-in-law, Betty Dennison; son-in-law, Dan Wolter; special granddaughter, Debi (Jim) Deegan; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three half-brothers, Randy (Kathy) Freye, Steve (Sue) Freye, and Kenny Freye; best friends, Gordy and Mary Hons; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Dick is preceded in death by his son, Randy Dennison; daughters, Karin Hughes and Dawn Scheuvront; parents; stepmother, Ann Freye; sister, Joyce (Eugene) Stroede; brother, Bob Freye; nephew, Scott Stroede; and great-grandson, Preston Wolter.
