Robert "Bob" Joseph Faber
Dec. 8, 1941 - May 6, 2023
SUN PRAIRIE - Robert "Bob" Joseph Faber passed away peacefully on May 6, 2023, at Hyland Crossing memory home.
He was born on December 8, 1941, in Madison, WI, to Raymond and Lilian (Zadrazil) Faber. Bob grew up in the Windsor-Deforest area, attending Pumpkin Hollow and St. John's Grade School in Waunakee and then graduated from Edgewood High School in 1960. On October 26, 1963, he married Hertha Davis.
Bob worked for American Breeders Service and Dairy Equipment before purchasing Kubina Welding and eventually starting Faber Welding. Bob made many friends and connections in the Sun Prairie community during his time as a welder with his charisma and work ethic.
Throughout his life, he cared deeply for his family and did anything he could to help out his children and grandchildren. He loved taking the grandkids on the annual day out for mini-golf and Babcock ice cream and pulling them behind the lawn mower in the wagon around the property.
Bob not only took care of his family, but also the rest of the community, whether it be donating to the food pantry, mowing for St. Albert's, grilling at Albert Fest or volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. He spent over 7000 hours driving truck and building homes for Habitat for Humanity in multiple states and Mexico.
Bob was also passionate about cars, especially Corvettes.
Even after being diagnosed with Dementia, his quick wit, humor and love and devotion for his wife, children and grandchildren did not falter. He was truly a one of a kind man who was extremely generous, wise and loving. It was a true testament to his nature to see the caretakers at Hyland and those from Rainbow Hospice coming in to say good bye to him during the last few days of his life.
The family could not be more grateful for their care and attention shown to Bob during the months he spent at Hyland.
Bob is survived by his wife, Hertha; son, Danny; daughter, Nancy; daughter-in-law, Shannon Heeren; grandchildren: Nicole, Zachary, Brady, Samantha, Tristen and Olivia; siblings: Jim (Mary) Faber and Barb (Pat) Tallman; sister-in-law, Susan Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lilian; in-laws, Harvey and Lena Davis; sons: Donny and Joseph; grandson, Jesse; and brother-in-law, Roy Davis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert Drive in Sun Prairie, with Monsignor Donn Heiar presiding, along with Bob's cousin, Fr. Ken Frisch. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Sacred Hearts Cemetery.
