Ronald "Ron" V. Heuer
September 2, 1942 - September 18, 2025
MIDDLETON - Ronald "Ron" V. Heuer, of Middleton, and formerly a long-time resident of Racine, died peacefully on September 18, 2025.
Ron was born in Monroe, Wisconsin on September 2, 1942, to Victor and Marian Heuer. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1960. He then studied business at UW-Whitewater.
Ron is survived by his wife Kathy (Tulloch), whom he married on August 22, 1964. They just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. They were devoted to each other and together they created a wonderful home to raise a family. They set a great example of what a loving marriage is and how to enjoy life to its fullest.
Ron is also survived by his children, Michael (Shari) Heuer, of Middleton, and Michelle (John) Garner, of Powder Springs, GA, and by his four grandchildren: Alexander and Ashley Heuer, and Isabella and Nicholas Garner. He is further survived by his sister Marcia Donny of Monroe, WI, his brother-in-law Bruce Tulloch of the Philippines, nieces Debbie Donny, Christy Huber and Joanne Upmann, and nephew Tim Tulloch.
Ron's professional career started at Walker Manufacturing in Racine, Wisconsin as Customer Service Manager. In 1981, he began working at an upstart Wisconsin Vision. He helped build Wisconsin Vision into one of the largest optical companies in the Midwest. He retired as their CEO in 2000.
Ron absolutely loved being outdoors – working in his yard, which was impeccable. He had the best flower garden in all of Racine! He also spent many hours helping landscape, plant, and care for the yard at Michael's house. He knew just how to grow the best flowers, including his favorite flower the hibiscus, and his yard was always immaculate. Every shrub was trimmed, every leaf was raked and every plant was watered. No weed was safe on his watch.
Ron loved watching the Chicago Cubs and listening to Pat and Ron call the games on WGN radio. He put WGN radio on in the morning and it stayed on all day long. He was overjoyed in 2016 when they won the World Series. When he moved to Middleton in 2020, he wanted to make sure they could still get WGN so he could listen to it every morning with his breakfast.
Ron loved traveling. In retirement, he traveled all over the country with Michael to golf. He loved all things golf: watching, talking about, and playing golf. He was able to play many famous courses and his two favorite courses were PGA West in LaQuinta, CA and Mauna Lani – South on the Big Island of Hawaii. One of his favorite memories was being able to golf with both Michael (son) and Alexander (grandson) in Palm Springs, California – three generations of Heuers playing on the same course. Ron excelled at making wonderful memories with his family.
Ron was a great man, serving as a role model to many. He loved his family deeply and he leaves us with many, many good memories of time spent with him. Those memories will be a source of comfort (and in some cases, quite a few laughs) to all of us moving forward. The stories of his hijinks are legendary. He was a genuinely happy and glass-half-full person who was friendly to everyone. He was definitely a morning person who was happy with a very hot coffee and a donut (or two or three) in his hands. He worked hard during the day but then always stopped in the early evening so he could dress up for dinner and have his brandy and Coke before sitting down to eat.
In his later years, he was a regular presence at his grandkids' games, meets, concerts, and school events, as he loved having any reason to spend time with his family. He was proud of his children and his grandchildren. It was very meaningful to him that his grandson Alexander was given his name: Alexander Ronald Heuer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Marian Heuer, and his brothers-in-law Joe Donny and Brian Tulloch.
Ron's family would like to thank the kind and loving staff at Heritage Memory Care, SSM St. Mary's Hospital, Stoughton Hospital and Agrace Hospice Memory Care. Your kindness and compassion in our time of need was unforgettable, appreciated and invaluable. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Gregory Rocco and his incredible staff (especially Kelly and Britton) at Aurora for their many years of exceptional care. Dr. Rocco is like a member of our family.
Ron loved dogs, especially Muffin and Daisy. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation be given in Ron's memory to the Dane County Humane Society. That would make him happy.
