Ronna Mae Duckwitz, age 97, of Madison, Wisc. passed away on August 3, 2025. She was born on November 25, 1927, in Madison, Wisc. to the late Rolfe and Mabel Ruth Sawtelle. Ronna was married to the late John Duckwitz, of Madison, Wisc. for over 60 years. Ronna will always be loved and remembered by her sister, Sally Patti, of Madison, Wisc.; son, Jay Duckwitz, of Tampa, Fla.; daughter, Lee Ann O'Neill, of Madison; son, Kurt Duckwitz, of Naples, Fla.; grandchildren, Hannah and Hailey Duckwitz, of Florida, and Matthew Haviland, of RI.

Ronna graduated from Layton Art School Milwaukee in 1947 and worked four decades as a commercial fashion artist, and as a wildlife artist. Ronna's art was appreciated across the country, winning numerous artistic awards including from the Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison for her animal sculptures, as well as murals at Ella's Deli, and hundreds of paintings and drawings she has created over the years. She often painted portraits of cherished pets for people, paintings which are still treasured.

Away from her beautiful artwork, Ronna was a devoted mother and was best known as a kind and loving soul. She was a church elder, and a member of the Presbyterian Church. Ronna loved Madison and the people who lived there. She will be missed by all who knew her.
