Rosemary Douglas

MADISON - Rosemary Douglas was born Rosemary Fusso in Milwaukee, WI, on June 1, 1924, to Joseph and Matilda Fusso. Her parents were both born in Czechoslovakia and came to Milwaukee in early 1900, married in the 1920s and had two children, Rosemary and Joseph Junior. And Rosemary graduated from West Allis Central high school and shortly after join the Coast Guard in 1944 and was discharged in 1946.
She spent time stationed in Washington DC, after a year in business college she worked for MGM movie distributors until her marriage to Chester douglas in 1948, and move to Kenosha, WI. They operated a variety store and sporting good store for several years until Chet began working at American Motors where he worked until his retirement. Rosemary worked at the University of Wisconsin as assistant to the vice chancellor for 25 years retiring in 1985. Chet and Rose moved to seven Springs country club in New Port Richey, FL, in 1987, and enjoyed golfing and traveling until Chet's death in 2000.
Rosemary enjoyed life in Florida until her relocation to Madison in 2017. She enjoyed her time in Madison living at the Waterford until just before her passing at a grace hospice, she was well cared for until the end, and is now reunited with Chet.
She is survived by her, two sons: George (Pam) of Pacific Palisades, CA, and Paul (Barbara) in Madison; and two grandchildren: Garrett and Madeleine.

May your memories of her be a blessing and comfort. I did Rosemary´s hair at The Waterford during her last year of life. She was always so very fun to chat with. She is missed

The VFW Post #7721 Members and Auxiliary Members in Naples, Florida, hereby salute and recognize Rosemary Douglas for serving God and her country by becoming a member of the US Coast Guard. We honor her memory and valiant service to our great Nation. Please accept our heartfelt sentiments as a token of our esteem and admiration of her duty, honor to country, and sacrifice for this great nation. Her tour of duty is now over, and she takes her place in the scared hall of soldiers granted eternal rest.
