Sandra Marion (Utpatel) Arfa
Oct. 24, 1942 - May 5, 2022
MADISON - Sandra Marion (Utpatel) Arfa, 79 passed away May 5, 2022 in Madison, WI. She was the beloved wife of nearly 50 years of Allan David Arfa.
Sandy was director of the UW program for English as a Second Language for international students and faculty. She earned her undergraduate degree at UW in Madison and graduate studies at UCLA and Harvard University.
She and her husband Allan David lived abroad for many years and traveled the world extensively. Sandy was sent by the UW to establish language education and training programs on all four continents, including major projects in South Korea, Kazakhstan, Uruguay, Bolivia and Turkey.
Along with Allan David, Sandy is survived by her children: Jessica Arfa (Dr. Steven "Shimon") Rudnick, of Seattle, WA, and Benjamin (Laura Rafson) Arfa of Louisville, KY; and grandchildren: Roland ("Rolly") Rudnick, Eric ("Rocky") Rudnick, and Silas Arfa, many colleagues and friends.
A graveside service was held on Monday, May 9, 2022 in Michigan.
There will be a Beautiful Celebration of life in Madison for Sandy in the coming months .
