Scott A. Blum
February 2, 1958 - February 4, 2025
SAUK CITY/ROXBURY - Scott A. Blum, age 67, of Roxbury passed away in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his wife and three boys after a valiant battle with biliary cancer on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. He was born February 2, 1958, to the late Joseph N. and Sandra (Johnson) Blum. He grew up and attended Sauk Prairie Schools; graduating in the class of 1976. Scott enlisted in the United States Army in 1981 to be a combat engineer so he could 'blow things up'. Upon his discharge he enlisted in the Army Reserve and during his career he held several ranks including drill sergeant and ended his military career after 34 years retiring in 2015 as Sergeant Major which included him receiving an associate degree in Administrative Management.
Early on, Scott worked in local gas stations advancing his knowledge in mechanics. He then changed paths and found his passion working in construction for many years, starting out at Lester's building pole barns and eventually joining the Local 314 Carpenter's Union retiring in 2017 from working at Bachmann's. He was united in marriage to Cindy Johnson on August 26, 1989, at the Burr Wesleyan Church in Hillsboro. Together they enjoyed their time at their 'shack' outside of Hillsboro relaxing and bird watching (feeding the livestock), couples' bowling league, golfing, Brewer trips and spending many hours with their hockey family.
Scott was always willing to go above and beyond to mentor and help a family member, friend, neighbor, or fellow soldier. He looked forward to time spent with his family, including hunting and going west to hunt with his boys in Colorado and helping his father-in-law find a new passion in turkey hunting. He would teach and take his grandchildren, nephews, and nieces hunting and fishing as well as being seen and heard cheering them on during their sporting events and interests.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; his boys, Cory (Kimberly) Blum and their children, Owen, Weston, Sadie; Tyler Blum (Gina LaVigne) and Justin Blum; siblings, Casey (Ann) Blum, Wade (Deana) Blum, Mindy (Mathias) Breunig. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Curt Blum.
Scott's family would like to thank Agrace Hospice Care, the VA Healthcare Professionals and his daughter in-law, Kimberly, for their compassionate care of Scott.
