Sharon Lee Kauffeld
MADISON - Sharon Lee Kauffeld, age 77, of Madison, Wis., passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Achiel and Mary Van Durmen (nee Susits) of Mishawaka, Ind.; and her husband, George Kauffeld.
She is survived by her brother, Achiel "Bob" Van Durmen, Jr.; sons, Jeffrey, Jason (Giselle), Trevor (Beth) and Christopher (Cynthia); and grandchildren, Madeleine, Owen, Evan, Abigail, Ashna, Isabel and Chancellor.
Sharon worked for the City of Madison IT department for close to 50 years, retiring in 2019. She loved her children, her grandchildren, dogs, reading, puzzles, cards and board games (which she hated to lose), collecting Hallmark ornaments and Snoopy. Sharon also loved any excuse to bake and will be disappointed to not see how the series Yellowstone concludes.
Sharon was generous and giving. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make a donation in her memory to an animal shelter, a local food pantry, cancer research, or a children's hospital. Her sons will be spreading her ashes on her parents' farm in Indiana.
A memorial gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, Wis., from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022.
