Stephen D. Caldwell

MADISON - Stephen D. Caldwell, age 78, passed away at his home in Madison on July 16, 2024, after a year-long battle with numerous medical issues.
Steve was born in Madison and spent his childhood in Beaver Dam, graduating from Beaver Dam High School. While a student in economics at the UW-Madison he began working in 1971 for the UW Department of ADP, which later became DoIT. He started as a computer operator, then advanced to programmer and analyst for the Registrar. His last position was with the UW Mail Team as senior analyst for all email iterations.
Survivors include, Judi Werner, his mate of 51 years; and his sister, Susan Caldwell Nelson, and nephew Alexander Nelson. Other survivors include: Peter and Mary Werner, Lauren Hastings and family, and Amy Agnihotri and family.
A service to remember Steve and celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 5701 Odana Rd, Madison, WI.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Save the Children's Fund or a charity of your own choosing.
