CASA GRANDE, AZ - Steve died peacefully at his home in Arizona, holding Anni's hand, his wife of 52 years, and surrounded by his children. Steve lived every day of his life as a true gift. He believed life was too short to waste time on anything that wasn't worthwhile, and to live with no regrets. He instilled these values in his children and anyone who spent time with him.
After two years in the Navy, Steve settled in Madison, WI, got married, had children, and ran a highly successful kitchen and bath design business for 30-plus years with his wife. He loved to share stories about his years of ski racing with his sons, adventures traveling the world for kitchen conventions and visiting family in Germany, and doing backflips down the length of the football field as the original Reedsburg High School Beaver mascot. Steve cherished his years up north at the cottage, later enjoying road tripping in the RV and finally retiring in sunny Arizona.
Steve was larger than life, got along with everyone, and always made everyone around him laugh and feel special. His friends and family worldwide, including numerous exchange students and friends from his business, will never forget his infectious laugh, hilarious jokes, joy at his latest and greatest toy, and superior ticketacking.
Steve will be forever missed by his wife Anneliese; children: Nathaniel, Stuart (Heather), Lauren (Chris); grandson, Blake; his mom, Shirley; brothers: Tim (Sue), Noel (Lois); sister, Claudia Bill; sister-in-law, Gisela Newbegin; and family, many nieces and nephews; goddaughter, Rachel; countless numbers of extended family, buddies, and honorary children; and his beloved dog, Max.
Per Steve's wishes there will be no service.

What can I say except I will miss Steve. Although I originally befriended Annie through our mutual Animal protection work, soon enough, Steve also became a cherished friend. I met Steve at their Madison home just before his Transplant surgery;. He was not in good shape. His skin had a decidedly yellow tint and looked awful. Fast forward a few ;years and one would hardly believe he had been that sick. Steve was a survivor and a LOT of fun. Loved that man, and love Annie too!!!

Dear Annie and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Steve and I have been friends since graduation at Webb High back in 1964. Unfortunately, I lost track of both of you last year after he called and said that he was having problems with his medications. That seems to happen more often as we age. I want to just share a quick story about Steve from those days at Webb High. He was expelled for having long hair one day. His father went to the principal and told him "Jesus had long hair". Steve was back in school the next day. Again, my deepest sympathy, he will be missed.

Dear Anni,
Bill and I are very sorry about Steve´s death, your loss. Working with you both was such a gift. Bill has referred to him as " the author of our kitchen. After thirty years it still looks up to date.
You both struggled with courage with his health, demonstrating the power of love and relationship.
You and your family are in my prayers.

Dear Anni, I was saddened to learn about Steve's passing. He was such a 'force' and some of us are still appreciating and living with his work (and yours). I have such fond memories of the two of you and Steve's creativity. The last time i saw Steve was soon after his liver transplant - his appreciation for life was palpable. I am thinking of you and your family as you say 'goodbye' to him.
