Teresa Northrup Obituary

Teresa Northrup

August 22, 1935 - June 2, 2025

Teresa Marie Northrup, age 89, of Ellenton, Florida, and formerly of Madison, Wisconsin, was called home to the Lord on June 2, 2025, after a short illness.

Born on August 22, 1935, in Madison, to Vincent and Anna Castagna, Teresa was a lifelong resident of Madison until she relocated to Florida in 2024. She cherished her last year in the warmth of the Florida winter, spending time with her daughters. Before moving, she proudly resided in her Madison east side home for 63 years. She was a graduate of Madison East High School, Class of 1953. She was a Shaklee product distributer for decades and hosted many sales meetings in her home from where she ran her business. She also provided care for others as a Certified Nurses Assistant.

Teresa's life was centered around her family, her Catholic faith, and her conservative values. A dedicated member of St. Dennis Parish since 1960, she regularly attended Sunday Mass, prayer meetings, and Bible study, and taught children's religious classes. A highlight of her faith journey was attending a Papal Mass at the Vatican in Rome. Her home was the heart of countless family gatherings for over six decades, where she lovingly raised her five children. Memories of holidays, birthday celebrations, barbecues, and her legendary spaghetti and meatballs will be forever cherished.

In her younger years, Teresa was socially active as a member of neighborhood associations, card clubs and hosting coffee clutches with other neighbor ladies. She assisted with parish activities and volunteered at the Madison VA Hospital.

Teresa was the beloved heart of her family. While she will be deeply missed, there is comfort in knowing she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Anna Castagna; her brother, Joe Castagna; and husband, James F. Northrup.

Teresa is survived by her brother, Vincent Castagna Jr. (Kris); her children, James Northrup, Jeff Northrup, Laura Northrup, Linda Christensen (George), and Barry Northrup (Loretta); her grandchildren, Collin Northrup, George Christensen, John Christensen, Amanda Northrup, and Megan Northrup; her great-granddaughter, Estella Grace Northrup; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
