Stewart, Terrill P. "Terry"
MADISON - Terrill P. "Terry" Stewart, age 89, died July 19, 2021. Terry was born in Belleville, Wis., on Sept. 14, 1931, the son of Roy L. and Mabel L. Stewart. He graduated from Mazomanie High School in 1949 and from UW-La Crosse in 1957 and was employed at the Aeronautical Chart & Information Center, St. Louis, Mo., for three years and later at UW Medical School, Department of Neurophysiology and Medical Photography for 35 years, retiring in 1995 as a Distinguished Media Specialist, Emeritus.
On April 13, 1957, he married the love of his life, Carol L. Staples, in La Crosse, Wis. They were married for more than 60 years until her passing on Nov. 29, 2017. He was a senior weather observer in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955, a life member of the University Photographers Association of America and a longtime member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Terry was active in the Boy Scouts for more than 60 years, an Eagle Scout, a Vigil member of the Order of Arrow, Woodbadge trained, recipient of the Silver Beaver, scoutmaster of Troop 398 of Brentwood, Mo., committee member of Pack 312, scoutmaster of Troop 103 for many years and committee member and assistant scoutmaster of Troop 104. He played volleyball and softball in the Madison city leagues for many years.
Terry is survived by his son, Eric, of Wisconsin Dells; a daughter, Lynn (John) Berry of Montgomery, Ala.; two grandchildren, Emma (fiancé, Joseph Waltz) and Clarke Berry; two great-grandsons, Harper and Jasper Waltz; and a sister, Royalin Carlson of Moberly, Mo. In addition to his parents and step-mother, Dora R. Stewart, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kendall Stewart; and two sisters, Leah Bachman and Ruth Christensen. Services are pending, and a private burial will take place at the Mazomanie Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Terry's name to Covenant Presbyterian Church, or Glaciers Edge Council, Boy Scouts.
