Thomas DiPiazza Obituary

Thomas "Tom" DiPiazza

April 8, 1948 - January 9, 2025

Fitchburg - Thomas (Tom) DiPiazza passed away peacefully at age 76 on January 9, 2025 at Azura Memory Care in Stoughton, WI.

He was born on April 8, 1948 to Anthony and Mary (Varese) DiPiazza in Madison, WI. He considered himself very lucky to have grow up in the Italian (Greenbush) neighborhood in Madison surrounded by his grandparents, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Tom graduated from Madison Central High School in 1967 and married the love of his life Sheila (Flynn) DiPiazza on November 15 1967. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in 2024.

He was a Lifetime member of the Elks Lodge 410 volunteering his time for a variety of their service activities for the community. As a member of the Italian Workmens Club Tom looked forward to the Festa Italia Celebration ever summer, setting up the Culture tent and connecting with many people who were interested in the Italian history of the Madison area.

Most important to Tom was time spent with his family following his children's church, school, and sporting events including camping, fishing, and many hours of scheduling their youth hockey games.

He and Sheila traveled to many places throughout the U.S. and Internationally including tropical cruises, London, Rome and Tom's favorite, Sicily.

After a long career in the food industry Tom retired in 2007 as a Regional Sales Manager for Conagra Foods.

In their retirement years Tom and Sheila enjoyed the warm winter weather in Florida and Arizona golfing and relaxing and catching up with their snow bird friends.

Tom's family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff at Azura Memory Care for their exceptional and loving care for the past eight months and a very special Thank You to the Agrace Hospice Nurses Bernadette and Anna.

Rest easy Tom. Your wonderful life on this earth is complete. We will all deeply miss your sweet smile and your soft laughter. Now God is waiting for you with open arms. The best is yet to come.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Sheila; his wonderful children, Mike (Steph), Matt (Jenny), Tony (Julie). His much-loved grandchildren, Jake, Mara, Nick, Claudia, and John. His brothers, Joe (Marcia), Dennis (Sue); his sister, Linda (David); and sister-in-law, Linda; his brother-in-law, Rick Flynn; and sisters-in-law, Mary Kay Roloff (Bob), Eileen Howard (Darrell), Tricia DeMarini (Doug); and many very special nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Mary DiPiazza; brothers, John and Steven; mother and father-in-law, Dick and Helen Flynn; and many fondly remembered Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday January 23, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church, 1204 St. James Ct. Madison. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church with lunch following the Mass.

Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.

We moved from Madison a number of years ago. It has been awhile since I've seen Tom. I was a member of the Italian Workmen's Club. Tom was always a very nice, cordial, friendly guy. Spent a fair amount of time with him at club events. My condolences to his family.
