Thomas Meicher Obituary

Thomas Wilfred Meicher

March 23, 1956 - August 19, 2024

MADISON - Thomas W. Meicher, age 68, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Aug. 19, 2024. He was born on March 23, 1956, in Madison, the son of Wilfred and Vivian (Barry) Meicher.

Thomas graduated from Monona High School in 1974 and received his associate degree in tool and die casting from MATC. He was united in marriage to Mary (Dobberpuhl) Meicher on May 30, 1981, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mayville, Wis. Thomas worked at Kipp Corporation in Madison, for 33 years, retiring in March of 2020. Tom elected to work third shift to be able to attend his kids' school, sports, and other events so that he could spend time with his children, parents, or other family members.

Tom was kindhearted and always made time to help others. He would give them the shirt off his back and then ask them if they needed his pants. Tom never met anyone who was a stranger. Tom would talk to anyone who would listen. He will be best remembered as a family man along with his generosity, dependability, and selflessness to others. Tom always found the best in people and infused that personality into his three children and was proud of them.

Tom was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed taking photos, hiking nature trails, camping and hunting. His annual Devil's Lake cookout was the highlight of his year being surrounded by friends and family. He was a member of the Friends of Devil's Lake. He loved traveling and taking road trips in his '79 Corvette and '77 F150. He loved spending time with his family and especially spoiling his three grandchildren. Tom would take his grandkids hunting and would spend countless hours in the hunting blind, not caring if a deer walked by, just enjoying the conversations with them. Tom would joke they would talk his ear off, and he would just sit there and listen. He cherished those moments.

Tom is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary; sons, Andrew (Laura) Meicher and Matthew (Amanda) Meicher; daughter, Milissha (Adam Vorwald) Meicher; grandchildren, Clayton, Bryson and Raylan; sister, Jane Anne (David) Beebe; brothers, Steven Paul (Doriann) Meicher and Denis Mark Meicher; nieces and nephews, Ashley Meicher, Kolton Meicher, Jacob Meicher, Patrick Meicher, Kaley Meicher, Wilson Beebe and Mara Beebe; and great-nieces and nephews, Kade Meicher, Beau Meicher and Evelyn Meicher. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024, with Father Mark Foley presiding.
