September 2, 1943 - September 17, 2025
STOUGHTON - Thomas Lee Welch, aged 82, of Stoughton, left this earth on September 17, 2025, to join the Silent Majority. Tom is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Susan. They were married for 48 years and consider their family their greatest achievement. Tom owned and operated Mr. Tom's Hair Designs West on Madison's west side and then worked as a realtor for First Weber prior to his retirement.
He is survived by his children, Brian (Amy) Kahl, Stoughton, Brad (Shannon) Kahl, St. Louis, Mo., David (Rebecca) Welch, Fitchburg, Michelle Kahl Parham, New York City, and Erin Welch (Tarni Jacobsen), Vancouver Island BC. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Tanner, Payton, Grace, Landon, Lauren, Henry, Cole, Jack, Tate and Lydia, who he loved dearly and never stopped cheerleading for.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Hazel Welch; his sister, Shelby Davis; and his brother, Gene Welch. He is survived by his siblings, James Welch, Linda (Harlin) Kittleson, and Cheryl Eide.
The family would like to give special thanks to the great staff of caregivers at UW Health, especially to Dr. Glenn Liu and Dr. Anthony Serritella, the oncologists who guided us through our darkest days with amazing care. The family also extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate and dedicated team at Agrace HospiceCare for their support and care during his final weeks. Memorial donations may be made to the Agrace Foundation or Carbone Cancer Center.
Tom was an avid skier, biker and runner and his motto that followed him through life was "Never stop in the middle of the hill."
A private family graveside service will be held at Rockdale Lutheran Church Cemetery.
