Holt, Timothy Scott "Tim"
MADISON - Timothy Scott "Tim" Holt passed away on April 18, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Tim was a beacon of strength and perseverance, battling cancer for more than 20 years. He never gave up, never felt sorry for himself, and always put his family first throughout his struggle, even in the face of a devastating diagnosis. He was a loving husband to his wife, Kelly, and dedicated father to his children – Casey, Patrick and Ali. He was affectionately known as "Pa" to his granddaughter, Lola, whom he adored, and who brought so much joy to his life.
Tim was born in Oak Park, Ill., on Sept. 29, 1958, to Richard and Marjory Holt. He grew up in the Orchard Ridge Neighborhood on Madison's west side, where he met many lifelong friends. Tim graduated from Memorial High School in 1977 and was proud to be an Eagle Scout. Tim received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Upper Iowa University.
Tim worked in the accounting field for over 30 years and was the Controller at All Comfort Services for the past 15 years until he retired earlier this year due to his deteriorating health. He loved his job and appreciated the support of his work family. He had an amazing work ethic, rarely missing a day of work.
Tim loved ice hockey and was a big-time Chicago Blackhawks fan! He started a tradition of attending an annual Hawks game with a group of friends more than 25 years ago. He played hockey as a goalie for fun, coached youth hockey, supported his kids playing hockey, and was a referee for many years. Tim had a large supportive friend group and looked forward to participating in monthly "Old Man Breakfast" gatherings and Zoom happy hours with his group of high school buddies.
Tim was happiest when vacationing with his family and friends in Florida. He enjoyed traveling with his family and taking his granddaughter, Lola, on numerous trips. He celebrated his 60th birthday with a surprise trip to Ireland from his son. Tim had a great memory and loved to share stories from the past. He was a caring and proud father, offering his expertise and advice freely. He was always there for his kids and family and took great pride in their many accomplishments.
Tim is survived by his wife, Kelly (Walker) Holt; his children, Casey Clark, Patrick (Lauren) Holt, and Ali Holt; his granddaughter, Lola; his brother, Greg (Holly) Holt; many nieces and nephews; and wonderful friends. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Marjory Holt; and his brother, Michael Holt.
The family will be holding a private service, with a celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carbone Cancer Center, 600 Highland Ave., Madison, WI 53792, or the Dane County Humane Society, 5132 Voges Road, Madison, WI 53718.
