Kreigh, Veryl
MONONA - Veryl Kreigh, age 88, of Monona, went to Heaven to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, following a nine-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
Veryl was born on March 19, 1932, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Ralph and Dora (Moe) Sherman. Veryl attended Frank Allis School in Madison where she formed lifelong friendships. She graduated from East High School in Madison in 1950. She then started her career as an administrative assistant for the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Department of Agriculture, which she retired from in 1994 after over 40 years and created even more lifelong friendships.
Veryl was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison and later became a founding member of Lake Edge United Church of Christ in Madison, where she remained a member until she could no longer attend.
Veryl will be fondly remembered for being a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She could be found crawling around on the floor with her grandkids, making houses out of big boxes, playing board games, and going down the world's biggest indoor water slides. As the grandchildren grew, she was found cheering them on at sporting events, choir and piano concerts, and community plays. She will be incredibly missed here on Earth, but Heaven is getting a fantastic, dedicated servant.
Veryl is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Kreigh; her parents, Ralph Sr. and Dora (Moe) Sherman; and her brother, Ralph "Sherm" Sherman Jr. She is survived by her children, Mike (Debbie) Kreigh of Monona, Wis., and Jill (Jim) Knaack of Coldwater, Mich.; her grandchildren, Christi (Jeff) Runnells of Dodge Center, Minn., Andrew Kreigh of Sun Prairie, Wis., Jeffrey Knaack (fiancée, Brianne Krake) of Coldwater, Mich., and Jacob Knaack of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a special sister-in-law, Irene Sherman of McFarland, Wis.; and nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be held. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park in Madison. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Heartland Hospice Care or the Dane County Humane Society. The family wishes to thank all of the staff from Heartland Hospice for the loving care they gave mom and the staff at Heritage Monona.
