Bernt Lundgren Obituary
June 26, 1931 - January 31, 2026
Bernt George Lundgren, 94, passed away on January 31, 2026, in Millville, Utah.
He was born on June 26, 1931, in Västerås, Sweden, to Karl Georg Lundgren and Lilly Lindström. At age 17, he immigrated to the United States with his family, settling in Utah. On 14 December 1950, Bernt married Mildred Swedin. Shortly after, he left to serve a mission in Norway for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Upon returning, he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served in Germany, where he earned U.S. citizenship.
Following his military service, Bernt worked briefly as a Utah Highway Patrolman before earning his bachelor's degree from Utah State University and, years later, a master's degree from BYU. He spent his career with the Church Educational System, teaching in Samoa, Idaho, Montana, and Fiji before retiring in 1996. After Mildred's passing in 1985, Bernt married Violet Sylvia Swedin on 30 May 1986. Together, their blended family includes 16 children, 64 grandchildren, and 104 great-grandchildren. His family was one of his greatest joys.
Bernt was known for his contagious smile, adventurous spirit, and deep devotion to his Savior, Jesus Christ. His life was rich with experience-he traveled the world and loved to be in nature. He had a profound love for people and a sincere desire to share his faith. He will be dearly missed by his wife and family.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, February 14, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 421 Maurice St. in Twin Falls, with viewing Friday, February 13, 2026, from 6 - 8 pm at White-Reynolds Funeral Chapel 2466 Addison Ave E. in Twin Falls and from 1 -1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.

Our daughter-in-law is the granddaughter of Bernt. our son son´s marriage gave us a few joyous opportunities to associate with this man with the contagious smile. So glad our family connected. Our sincere condolences to the family.

Brother Lundgren was a great teacher,and a great example
Sometimes I would see him at the temple. He liked to share stories of his children when he did this there was always a sparkle in his eye. You as a family were blessed to have him as your Dad

Brother Lundgren was a great teacher and testimony builder. He was instrumental in my preparation for a mission over 40 years ago. I will never forget this good and honorable man!!

How I loved this man. He was a councilor in the Bishopric of my young adult ward and taught a Pearl of Great Price class at CSI that I went to. I have thought of him so many times over the years. He was amazing. He spoke of how seeing his children all in the temple together was a blessing he felt came from paying tithing. I remember him telling us that it might be okay to get an ox out of the mire on Sunday, but if you spent all day Saturday pushing it into the mire, that may have changed a bit. He was so funny. I loved that huge smile and his laugh. That little class I went to was more like attending the temple than any other class I ever attended. I wish the family well and comforted at his loss. I hope that they feel his passing is more of a graduation than a loss. I lost my own father 4 month ago at age 92 1/2. That is the way I felt about his passing. He graduated and is with mom now. I know he touched my life and can remember him 40 years later. That is an impact. That impact is missed now. He was wonderful.

Brother Lundgren was one of the best institute teachers I ever had. I loved his classes on The Book of Mormon and his love for our Savior Jesus Christ.
