Marilyn Lundgren Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home on Mar. 5, 2026.
Marilyn Lundgren, born January 11, 1955, in Stamford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was known for her kind, generous, and compassionate spirit, and her warmth touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Marilyn was the daughter of the late Edward Francis Burke and Edith Marilyn Burke, and the beloved sister of the late Kathy Draeger. She was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Class of 1973, and spent much of her life connected to the Stamford community she loved and served.

Marilyn was the widow of the late Phillip Lundgren, Sr. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Erica Lundgren of Derby, Connecticut, and her three brothers: Eddie Burke of Ashley, Pennsylvania; Peter Burke (wife Helen) of Ashley, Pennsylvania, along with their children Peter, Jr. and Stacey; and Charles Burke (wife Aubrey) of Waleska, Georgia, along with their daughter Samantha. She is also survived by her nephews Christopher Draeger of Summerville, South Carolina and Dennis Draeger of Ashley, Pennsylvania.

Marilyn dedicated more than 30 years of her life serving the community as a Public Safety Dispatcher for the City of Stamford. Throughout her career, she was known for her calm demeanor, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to helping others in their moments of greatest need. Her work behind the scenes supported countless police, fire, and medical responses, and she took great pride in being part of a profession devoted to public safety.

Outside of her career, Marilyn found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time reading and enjoyed playing bingo. She also had a passion for cooking and was well known among her colleagues for preparing delicious meals using her family recipes, which she generously shared with those she worked with.
