Beverly Jean Lance Weekes
July 30, 1941 – November 6, 2021
Beverly Jean Lance Weekes was born on July 30, 1941 in Twin Falls, Idaho. Her parents were Hazel "Lorene" Black Lance and Vernon Lance. She grew up in Eden, Idaho with her siblings Gary and Donna. Bev passed away at age 80 on November 6, 2021 at her home in Boise. Bev was born with spunk and it went with her through her life. She could very well take care of herself!
Bev took piano lessons for a short time and had a very pretty singing voice. In 1947, after WWII, Bev was chosen to draw names for Veterans to receive land. There were 43 farms available. There were six Magic Valley Veterans who were drawn to receive free farms. Her Uncle Karl Black was one of them.
Bev married Allen "Jr" Weekes in 1958. At the end of that year in December, Richard Allen was born, followed by Robert Dewayne in 1960 and Carolyn "Renee" in 1961. She had her hands full! Bev had many talents, especially her crocheting, cross stitch and quilts. She crocheted beautiful doilies, dolls etc. She crocheted a bedspread in just 2 1/2 months for Donna's wedding present. I think she never forgave me for having a short engagement!
Bev was preceded in death by her parents Vernon in 1988, Lorene in 2012 and brother, Gary in 1986. She was also preceded by her former husband, Jr. Weekes in 2017. She is survived by sister Donna Lance Cox (John) of Twin Falls, Idaho; her children, Richard (Darla) of Nampa, Idaho, Robert of Boise, Idaho and Renee of Boise; 4 grandchildren, Breanna, Sarah, Marissa & Tom; several greats with one on the way.
We would like to give a huge thank you to her granddaughter Marissa for living with her for the last several years and taking such great care of her. We couldn't have done it without her.
Graveside services will be held at the Hazelton, Idaho cemetery on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Lance Cox, Bell Tower Funeral Home, Post Falls, Idaho.
