Dan Landers Obituary

Dan Craig Landers

May 30, 1935 - June 25, 2025

Dan Landers, 90, of Paul, Idaho, passed away on June 25, 2025. Dan was born to Martin and Lucille Landers on May 30, 1935, in Coalinga, California. In 1956, he married the love of his life, Dorene Hermansen. They recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on June 9th. Together, they built a life full of hard work, love, and family.

Throughout his life, Dan had several careers. He owned a janitorial business in Southern California before relocating to Paul, Idaho, in 1976, where he purchased and operated Harvey's Eggs for many years. Dan later worked as an agricultural inspector at the USDA, from which he retired in the early 2000s.

In retirement, Dan became known as "The Pumpkin Man," growing and running an annual pumpkin patch north of Paul, Idaho, for over 30 years. He was an outdoorsman and loved fishing, camping, and hunting. Gardening was a lifelong hobby, and for many years, he organized a local garden club in Paul, Idaho. In his later years, Dan discovered a love for gourd art, carving and painting pieces that he sold at art shows.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorene Landers; children, Daneen Rutledge, Craig Landers, Cory Landers, and Jason Landers (Melissa); his sister, Ardith; and grandchildren, Taylor Rutledge (Katy), Ethan Landers, and Carter Landers.

Dan will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and those touched by his warmth, humor, and gift of gab.

A celebration of his life will be held on July 12th from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Paul LDS Stake Center, 424 W Ellis St., in Paul, Idaho. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor his life.

We recently learned of Dan's passing. So many wonderful memories. We always made a point of dropping by when we made a yearly trip back to Idaho. Doug worked for him when he had Harvey's Eggs. And that friendship continued. He will be terribly missed . Our hearts go out to Doreen and the rest of his family..Doug and Tammy Klamm

Dan was always so kind and giving. We visited him in Arizona when he lived in the middle of the desert. He created a home with what he had. We loved the pumpkin patch. Every year our family loved going to his field picking out many pumpkins. We will never forget him or Doreen. Our love goes to his family.

So many fantastic memories with Uncle Dan
All my life of memories.
Most recent was the time spent with Dan & Dorene in Quartzite. Dan had made out of rocks a 15' x 15' I love Dorene with a rock frame. A couple miles away from camp. Only Dan knew how to get there. Dorene smiling on the back of Dan on the ATV.fantastic memories.
Going to craft shows IN Quartzite
so Dan could sell his Intricate guards.
We have one of Dan's gourds in every room of our home. Very precious. And we live in CA great earthquake detector.
Dan will be missed.
