David Carter
June 10, 1933 - May 25, 2024
KIMBERLY - On May 25, 2024, I, David L. Carter, left the mortal realm and joined my precious companion Virginia, along with thousands of previously mortal family members, friends, and associates.
Born June 10, 1933 in Tremonton, UT, I am the 3rd son and 4th child of Gordon Ray Carter and Mary Eldora Hirschi Carter. My siblings are Duane, Gayla, Kent, Sharon, Darius, and Jeanne. I married Virginia (Beutler) on June 1, 1953, and we went on to have three sons.
I grew up on a cattle ranch in the remote town of Park Valley, UT. I moved on to study at Utah State University, and then Oregon State University, where I earned a PhD in Soil Chemistry. I have had a distinguished career as a research scientist with the Agricultural Research Service (part of the USDA).
I am survived by my sister Jeanne, my son Allen, my son Roger (wife Judy), my son Brent (wife Chris), 5 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, and 9 great grandchildren.
I am a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The highlights of my life are my service in many positions in the church, including Bishop of Kimberly 1st Ward (twice) and President of the Twin Falls Idaho and Kimberly Idaho Stakes. To the thousands of you whom it was my privilege to serve, I love you and thank you for those opportunities. Hopefully we shall meet again as our Lord's plan of salvation is fulfilled.
A viewing will be held at Reynolds Funeral Chapel, 2466 Addison Ave E, Twin Falls, on Monday June 3, from 6 to 8 PM. The funeral service will be held Tuesday June 4, at 11 AM, at the Kimberly Idaho Stake Center, 3850 N 3500 E, Kimberly, with a viewing at 10 AM prior to the service.

Brother was the best Gospel Doctrine teacher I have ever known. He would write a list of scripture references on the chalkboard, and invite class members to read them aloud. He guided the discussion about gospel topics, without going off on tangents or losing focus on the main point.

David was my bishop twice and my stake president. I respect and admire him as much as anyone I have ever known. He had a big impact on my life. I appreciate the opportunity of knowing him.
