Jimmy Hunsaker Obituary

Jimmy (Jim) Edward Hunsaker

July 28, 1943 - July 10, 2025

Jim Hunsaker of Buhl passed away on July 10, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Jim was born in Ogden, Utah on July 28, 1943, to Rulon Hunsaker and Elenor Uhee. He was the second of three children, and second son.

His family moved to Wendell, Idaho when his dad was serving in the Army during WWII and his sister was also born in Wendell.

While growing up, they lived in Hollister, Wendell, Kimberly and Murtaugh. Jim graduated from Murtaugh High School in 1962.

In October of 1962, Jim met Bonnie Harp, and they were married on December 20, 1963. Bonnie, the love of his life was his partner in every adventure for over 60 years. Jim and Bonnie were blessed with 6 children, or as their only daughter Kim would say, Mom and Dad had five sons and an only child. Randy (Suna), Eric (Shana), Kim (Tony), Shawn (Rachael), Ron (Deanna) and Robin (Kelli). They were further blessed with 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; each of them claiming that Grandpa told them they were his favorite.

Jim truly loved his family. Even on his final day his concern was that we knew how much he loved us, especially mom. Hunting, fishing, camping and get-togethers were his favorite pastimes. The annual Family Birthday Week Camping Trip in June was his highlight of the year.

He worked for Union Pacific Railroad running heavy equipment, Falls Brand Meat, Amalgamated Sugar, and he farmed. Farming was always his first love and passion. Jim is a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding various positions throughout his life. If anyone was in need, Jim was the first one there, but always behind the scenes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dean and Dean's wife Barbara; Sister, Myrtle; three brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.

The family wishes to thank all the staff on the cardiology floor of St. Luke's Twin Falls for the care and kindness they showed.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2025 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1001 Fair Ave, Buhl. The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 17, 2025, 11:00am also at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Fair Ave, Buhl. Burial will conclude at the West End Cemetery, 1574 E Elm St, Buhl.

Memory and condolences may be shared with the family on Jim's memorial webpage at www.farmerfuneralchapel.com.

I loved Jim. I knew him ln high school. He was a gentle giant. We played football together. I never knew him to complain. He was quiet until you got to know him and then you had a good friend.
