John Steinmetz Obituary

John Howard Steinmetz

February 4, 1944 - August 18, 2021

Loving husband and father, John Howard Steinmetz, Born February 4, 1944, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 3:23 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his parents Howard James, Norma Margaret, and stepmother Nora, brother Richard Arthur, and youngest son Rueben Daniel (Danny) Steinmetz.

John is survived by his loving wife Judy of 46 years, sons Eric Steinmetz, Aaron (Andrea) Steinmetz, Mike (Valerie) Steinmetz, and daughter-in-law Carmen Goicoechea. He also leaves behind his eight grandchildren, Lawrence, Laura, Tristen, Alyx, Autumn, Chase, Cori, and Amaia, as well as his three great-grandchildren Rylie, James, Emma, niece Susan and nephew Mark in addition to his countless number of friends and loved ones.

John enjoyed his life as an avid outdoorsman who could frequently be seen on the golf course or the firing range and was well known for the many custom fishing rods he built for friends and family. He made his living as an electrician who applied his craft to the petroleum industry where he supervised the installation of gas pumps and underground tanks, as well as repair and maintenance. If you have ever filled your car's gas tank in Northern Nevada or Southern Idaho, chances are he is probably the man who made it possible. He lived in the community of Twin Falls for 43 years where he would regularly order his favorite breakfast, "A half order of biscuits and gravy, with a half order of hash browns and three sausage links all on one plate and covered in gravy."....he usually received the order on two plates rather than one, which he found rather annoying.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at the residence of Mike and Valerie Steinmetz at 1447 Bradley Street in Twin Falls, Idaho. Visitation hours will be from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to join in this celebration and honor a life well-lived. He will be missed by all who knew him.

John was a good friend for many years. I used to work with him on our pumps here at Al Park Petroleum. I'm sorry to hear of his passing.

I am so sorry about John's passing. He was a great man whom I have known and done business with for the past 42 years. John had a hand in every petroleum equipment installation or repair at everyone of our Oasis Stop 'N Go Convenience Stores and Travelers' Oasis Truck Plaza. He was so knowledgeable about our properties and always ready and willing to take on any challenge. He was a great friend and we kidded about who was oldest and who would retire first. I am a half month older than John was. He will be missed.

Sorry about John. Just wanted you to know I am still using the golf clubs John made for me 21 years ago.
