Karen Roemer Obituary
A loving wife, mother, and friend, Karen L Dodson Roemer, passed away August 9 2025. She was born April 2, 1941 in Twin Falls, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents Jack Dodson, and Freda "Peg" Dodson, and her two brothers, Lt. Jack LeRoy Dodson and Loyd Dodson. She is survived by her two children, Shawna Roemer Mynear of Emmett, ID and Teresa "Teri" Roemer Shea of Cedar Park, TX, six grandchildren (Adrianne Illingworth, McKensey Selner, Bailey Mynear, Sydney Mynear, Allissa Shea and Joey Shea), and six great grandchildren. Her warm spirit and loving presence are greatly missed.
Karen graduated from Kimberly High School in 1959. She attended Idaho State University, Blue Mountain Community College, and Boise State University. Karen loved the adventure of new places and, early in her working career, worked at INEL Phillips Petroleum in Arco, Idaho, First National Bank, and Sherwood and Roberts Loan and Mortgage in Pendleton, Oregon. Once she moved back Twin Falls to work at Independent Meat Company, she met the love of her life, Donald Roemer.
Karen and Don were married on June 20, 1970. Karen and Don then paved their own adventures together and moved their family to Longmont, Colorado for three years where Karen was the coordinator for the Newcomers Club and Board of Directors at the Longmont Learning Center. They later relocated to Eagle, Idaho, where Karen balanced raising her family with a diverse career. She worked as a computer and special education teacher, served as a volunteer coordinator and bookkeeper at Eagle Hills Golf Course, and eventually became the Pro Shop Manager at Foxtail Golf Course.
Once retired, Don and Karen moved to Whidbey Island in Washington and enjoyed the snowbird lifestyle with winters in Arizona. Karen and Don were married for 49 years before his passing in 2018. Shortly after his passing, Karen moved to Texas to be close to her daughter and grandchildren who could care for her later in life.
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Twin Falls Idaho at 11 a.m. on September 13, 2025. A celebration of life will follow at the Hilton Garden Inn from 12-2 p.m. Please drop in anytime during the celebration. Per the request of Karen, please do not wear black to the service or celebration.
