Lynn Berkebile Obituary
Dr. Lynn Barry Berkebile, 78, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away, surrounded by love, on October 27, 2025.
Lynn was born April 5, 1947 in Orange, California to Mary Katherine (nèe McFeaters) and Floyd "Ivan" Gohn. During the majority of his early childhood, Lynn lived with his mother and sister at his beloved Grandma and Grandpa McFeaters's home in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. His Grandma and Grandpa were responsible for instilling a life long love of Christmas in Lynn at a very early age.
Following his mother's second marriage to Bernard "Bud" Berkebile, the family returned to California in 1955. Lynn attended high school at Duarte High, graduating in 1965. Following high school, Lynn worked various jobs before joining the United States Air Force in 1966. He served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970, before being honorably discharged in 1970.
Lynn married Susan (nèe Brooks) in Monrovia, California in April 1968. When Lynn returned from Vietnam in 1970, he enrolled in school, first pursuing a Bachelor's degree, then a Master's degree, and finally a Doctorate in Chiropractics in 1978. In 1975, Lynn and Susan welcomed their first child, a daughter, Dana Lyn, in to their lives. Shortly after Lynn's graduation with his D.C., the young family moved to Bliss, Idaho, so Lynn could open his own practice in Gooding, Idaho. The couple welcomed their second child, a son, Cory Eugene, in 1979.
Lynn opened a second practice in Twin Falls, Idaho, in 1981. Lynn spent much of his time during this period building his practices, enjoying Idaho's beautiful outdoors, supporting Dana's 4H endeavors and taking Cory hunting. If it's true that if you do what you love, you never work a day in your life, then Lynn never worked. He truly loved taking care of the good people of the Magic Valley for more than 40 years, until health issues forced his retirement in 2021.
In December 1988, Lynn married Michelle (nèe Matlock) and became bonus dad to three additional children, Rochelle, Janelle and Brandon. Lynn and Michelle made their home in Hagerman, Idaho, enjoying close and easy access to the Snake River, before relocating to Twin Falls, Idaho in 2003.
To say Lynn was just one thing would be an incredible injustice to a man who loved and enjoyed so many things in life. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting with his sons, son-in-laws, and friends. He loved snow and water skiing, camping, snowmobiling, sailing, snorkeling, riding horses, and fishing. He was a fantastic storyteller, with an endless sense of humor, who was always ready to tell or hear a good joke. He loved animals, especially dogs and horses, raising many during his years as an adult. He was a talented and skilled mechanic, often fixing vehicles for his kids, neighbors and friends. He built several race cars and even the engine for his beloved ski boat. He loved chocolate, frequently eating amounts that would alarm an average connoisseur. He adored giving gifts and making grand gestures, often surprising Michelle, the kids, and family with gifts and surprises they were least expecting. He was a generous teacher who loved to share his knowledge with others and instilled a love of life long learning in each of his kids. He loved building and flying RC airplanes and eventually pursued his life long dream of getting his pilot's license in 1996. Of all the places Lynn loved to be or visit, the air above Idaho was his favorite. Lynn often said that he had lived a 100 lifetimes during his life and that he wouldn't change a single thing about any of it.
Lynn believed in the importance of community and worked hard to give back to his. He was a long time supporter of Shriners Hospitals for Children, involved with the Masons, and always treated members of law enforcement, fire fighters, service members, Veterans and patients in need, free of charge.
Lynn is survived by his wife, Michelle; daughter, Dana (Kelly) Miller of Meridian, Idaho; son, Cory (Breein) Berkebile of Pocatello, Idaho; daughter, Rochelle (Matt) Belobraydic of Mentor, Minnesota; daughter, Janelle (Jerod) Morehouse of Boise, Idaho; son, Brandon Ottersberg of Twin Falls, Idaho; grandchildren Carson, Aubree, Jacob, Austin, Noah, Alice, Henry, Adeline and Belle; sister, Sherri (Tony) DeBolt of Ketchum, Idaho; sister, Wendy (Brook) Karstetter of Merkel, Texas; and sister, Kerry (Ron) Snook of Eugene, Oregon.
Lynn is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Katherine Cleland; dad, Ivan Gohn; stepfather, Bud Berkebile; stepfather, Ed Cleland; stepmother, Levon Gohn; and his Grandma and Grandpa McFeaters.
A celebration of life will be held on May 16, 2026 in Gooding, Idaho. Additional details will be shared closer to the date, but please plan on attending to share laughter, love and stories about Lynn. It's an incredibly lucky thing to have had someone in our lives that makes saying goodbye so hard.
