M. Jean Jacobson McCrae Mohwinkel
October 12, 1921 ~ January 13, 2021
M. Jean Jacobson McCrae Mohwinkel, 99, passed away in the early morning of January 13, 2021 in Boise.
She was born on October 12, 1921 on a small family acreage about a mile east of the top of Vader Grade coming from of Hagerman. She was born to Albert Lars Jacobson and Violet Rider Jacobson. She lived on that farm until the family moved to Oklahoma when she was in the 8th grade. She lived in Oklahoma for one year and returned back to Idaho where she attended school in Twin Falls for a year while living with her Aunt Celia. Her family then returned to Wendell, Idaho where she attended the last two years of high school in Wendell. This is where she met her high school sweetheart – Robert Coe McCrae. They both graduated in 1940 and were married later that year after graduation. They had four children together. They later divorced and both were remarried. Jean married Ed Mohwinkle in 1966 and they were married until his death. Mom lived in Wendell until she was 91 when she moved to Boise.
She was about family first and foremost, she made sure all her kids, grandkids and great grandkids came first. She loved to garden and made it one of the grandchildren's favorite places to be with her. She loved to can what she grew; she loved to cook and make sure that everyone that entered her home was fed and comfortable. She loved her family, there was never a time that her table wasn't occupied by grandkids, company or a family member just stopping by to visit.
She had various jobs she worked and enjoyed through out her lifetime. She worked for Dr. Holsinger, the Wendell Grange, and the Ambrose family business. She was a member of the American Legion and was a member of the L.D.S. Church where she enjoyed working with the genealogy department.
She is survived by two of her children – Bob (Jackie) McCrae and Kathy (Bob) Kaiser; a very special daughter-in-law – Sharon (Clarence) Sparks; 10 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, with another on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her husband – Ed Mohwinkel; her sons – Kenny McCrae and Ronnie McCrae; her parents and all her siblings.
A Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mom, Aunt, Grandma, Great and Great Great Grandma, you were all of these things and so much more. You are our ray of sunshine and you will be dearly missed.
A memorial graveside service will be held later in the Spring of 2021 at the Wendell Cemetery.
