Michael Shane Ashby
October 7, 1971 - September 7, 2025
Michael Shane Ashby was born October 7, 1971 in Ely, Nevada to loving parents Louis and Colleen Ashby. He entered into rest on September 7, 2025 in Salt Lake City, Utah following complications due to heart surgery.
As a young boy, Shane attended White Pine High School and graduated in the Class of 1990. He then graduated from Colorado Mesa University with a degree in mechanics.
Though growing up as a member of the LDS church, at the time of his passing he was a non-denominational Christian and was a born again a follower of Jesus Christ.
After a memorable first date, taking 19 hours and with Irene losing a whole park, Shane spent 10 amazing years, 8 years married, with the love of his life, Irene Ashby. Soulmates was an understatement, Shane loved every second he got to spend with Irene and was fond of cracking smart jokes at her innocence. You can reference to his "Conversations with Irene" on his Facebook page.
The Pittsburgh Steelers. That was Shane's team! If you knew Shane, then you knew that he was a Pittsburgh Steelers all the way! He was a diehard fan and was always proud to support their every game. He was also an artist. Although often shy about his work, his paintings and drawings were beautiful. Among his many hobbies were remote-controlled car racing and the building of tiny Lego cars.
Aside from his hobbies, family meant everything. He loved spending time with them and always looked forward to the time he got to spend with his beloved daughter and grandchildren who fondly called him "Papa Shane" and loved him to the moon and back.
At the time of his passing, Shane was employed with the Chef's Store. Over the 2 and a half years he was with them, he always reminisced on his fondness for his fellow coworkers and the amazing work atmosphere. A special thank you to them for their continued support during this difficult time.
Shane is survived by his loving wife, Irene Ashby, his 3 beautiful children, Allisa Rose "Rosie" Ashby, Stevan Daniel Thieman (Sarah), and Jamison Tyler Harpst (Maria). He is also survived by his sister Vickie Pearce of Ely, NV, sister LuAnn Ashby (Richard) of Bliss, ID, sister Jodi West (Dan) of Twin Falls, ID, and brother Louis (Rick) Ashby (Jennifer) of Ely, NV. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and his many very loved grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Colleen Ashby and loving grandparents.
He will be and is desperately missed more than can be expressed in words.
